Obviously, Trueblood's conception of VJ is a lot more complicated in terms of the show's depiction of a 'blood contagion' that divides Americans between the religious right & pro-Vamp supporters & the complications of relationships cross-species. Is it going to far to think about the hotter than hot sex with vampires, hetero & homo, as a reaction against Safe Sex/HIV anxiety? Seems to be a striking shift away from other 'contagion' stories
